Not only the planet earth, its soil and nature carry the wounds of mass destruction across centuries of wars and colonisation, but our human soul also carries them. They become a wound to humanness, a genetic imprint across cultures and geographies. WOUND is a dance ritual that addresses grieving communities and collective mourning, towards the path of healing and reconciliation; to reconcile with the past, recognise the present, and construct a future via the human bonding and the bonding with nature, water and human body/soil.

Languages: Spoken English, with projected texts in English and German, in addition to scattered Arabic, French and Spanish.

Nicht nur die Erde, der Boden und die Natur tragen die Wunden von Völkermorden über Jahrhunderte von Kriegen und Kolonialisierung, sondern auch unsere menschliche Seele trägt sie. Sie werden zu einer Wunde des Menschseins, zu einem genetischen Abdruck über Kulturen und Geografien hinweg. WOUND ist ein Ritual auf dem Weg der Heilung und Versöhnung, um sich mit der Vergangenheit und der Gegenwart zu versöhnen und durch die Verbindung von Mensch und Natur, Wasser und Erde eine Zukunft zu schaffen.

Sprachen: Gesprochenes Englisch, mit projizierten Texten in Englisch und Deutsch, zusätzlich stellenweise Arabisch, Französisch und Spanisch.

A dance workshop by Nora Amin that focuses on creating dance from a perspective of empowerment and healing. Based on her choreographic signature, and her extensive research to decolonise Baladi dance practise, which resulted in her acclaimed book DANCE OF THE PERSECUTED (Matthes & Seitz, 2021), Nora offers an intensive two-days workshop for women of all cultures, ages and abilities. The workshop is a training to re-understand dance as an expression of identity, as a healing medium, and as a transformative power. This can be a good place to unlock the past, embrace the present and celebrate what is yet to come in the spirit of feminist empowerment.

Ein Tanzworkshop von Nora Amin, der sich auf die Schaffung von Tanz aus einer Perspektive der Ermächtigung und Heilung konzentriert. Basierend auf ihrer choreografischen Handschrift und ihren umfangreichen Recherchen zur Dekolonisierung der Baladi-Tanzpraxis, die in ihrem gefeierten Buch TANZ DER VERFOLGTEN (Matthes & Seitz, 2021) mündeten, bietet Nora einen intensiven zweitägigen Workshop für Frauen (FLINTA*) aller Kulturen, Altersgruppen und Fähigkeiten an. Der Workshop ist ein Training, um Tanz als Ausdruck von Identität, als heilendes Medium und als transformative Kraft neu zu verstehen. Dies kann ein guter Ort sein, um die Vergangenheit aufzuschließen, die Gegenwart zu umarmen und das zu feiern, was noch kommen wird, im Geiste der feministischen Ermächtigung.

Nora Amin is a choreographer, performer, author and scholar. She lives in Berlin since 2015 where she developed her own choreographic signature through community dance workshops, professional contemporary dance workshops, solo performances, academic lectures/seminars and authored books. She holds a PhD in cultural policy and the performing arts from the university of Hildesheim, and is author of “Migrating the Feminine” and “Dance of the Persecuted” (MSB Matthes & Seitz, 2018-2021). She is a board member of the German Centre of the International Theatre Institute, and member of the scientific committee of the Barba Varley Foundation, as well as co-creator/curator of the MA Dance program: Community, participation & activism (London Contemporary Dance School, The Place, UK).
